Clinical Hypnosis
My primary goal is to help each client discover the particular meaning of his or her unique journey, which can lead to greater fulfillment and a hopeful future.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is basically a way for you to focus your attention (or your awareness) in helpful ways. Anyone can focus their awareness. For example, a moment ago you may have been lost in thought, but right now you have allowed your attention to focus on the words of this page. You can also focus your awareness in order to:
- Recall past events
- Anticipate the future
- Absorb yourself in the present moment
- Center on your inner self
When you use this natural ability to focus your awareness on your subconscious self, you can give yourself permission to do what you really want to do, such as:
- Master difficult emotions
- Overcome unwanted habits
- Bypass psychological “roadblocks” to create a route to success
How do I use hypnosis is my practice?
I do not describe myself as a “hypnotist,” and I do not use hypnosis for entertainment purposes (though it is often an enjoyable experience). First and foremost, I am a licensed mental health therapist. My primary goal is to promote emotional wellbeing and healthy relationships.
Not all clients choose to use hypnosis as part of their overall therapy. In my practice, I only use hypnosis with clients who are already engaged in regular talk-therapy. Most often I use it to treat stress and anxiety issues, for which it is extremely effective. I also use it to help clients find resolution to inner conflict between different “parts” of oneself (a.k.a. “Parts Therapy”). Hypnosis can address a multitude of other issues as well.
If you are exploring hypnosis for help with a medical issue, such as pain management, I recommend contacting a medical professional who utilizes hypnosis. I can help with referrals.
