Psychotherapy for Individuals

"The therapist is above all an architect, who can create an atmosphere or a space where we feel secure, where we can be in touch with refreshing things, healing things."

Thich Nhat Hanh
spiritual teacher

I see many clients on an individual basis, even though my title as a Marriage and Family Therapist might suggest otherwise.

Individual psychotherapy is aimed at helping you to navigate through difficult life experiences, cope with difficult emotions, promote growth and function at your best. In working toward these goals, we will:

Psychotherapy for Couples

People often seek couples therapy because they feel they can't be themselves in their relationships or because they feel distant or disconnected from those they care about. This can lead to conflict or apathy.

In day to day life, it may difficult to address problems like these with those you care about. Couples therapy is a safe way to have a conversation about difficult topics, where you can be coached in effective ways of communicating and understanding each other. You’ll be able address particular concerns more effectively and be able to use these skills in the future if other challenges arise.

The role of relationships in individual work

Your family, friends and significant others may play a role in your life in ways that you hadn’t even thought of. I will help you examine how these connections come into play.

What else is important to know?

Many people who come to see me are from “traditional” nuclear families. But I do work with many forms of committed relationships and friendships. No matter how you define your family, I am happy to work with you.
